Institute of Fisheries and Marine Ecology, Ukraine (IFME) is the one of the leading scientific fishery research institution in Ukraine.

The research areas of the Institute include, among other areas:

  • monitoring, research and forecasts of water living resources in the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and Antarctic marine areas,
  • fish research of rivers, lakes and storage pools.
  • mathematical modelling for fish stock forecasts.
  • Acipenseriformes species (sturgeons): conservation, alive collections, artificial fishbreeding, genetical identification and pasportization.
  • assessment of impact of economical activities to water ecosystems.
  • scientific support of international affairs of Ukraine in the sphere of fisheries.

Institute of Fisheries and Marine Ecology is an associated partner in the GOFORIT project.
